The Challenge
Seed storage presents a unique challenge.
It is not simply refrigeration.
Maintaining low temperature AND low humidity simultaneously requires careful engineering. Refrigeration alone reduces temperature, but without dedicated moisture control, relative humidity can fluctuate or remain too high.

The Solution
Purpose-Built Panel Kit Room (3m x 3m)
Humiscope supplied an Australian-made insulated panel kit room, custom sized to the client’s requested 3m x 3m footprint.
The kit included:
Pre-cut 100mm insulated floor, wall and roof panels
Food-compliant floor panel with ply and epoxy overlay
Aluminium angles, coving and sealant for airtight assembly
Screws, caps, pop rivets and finishing components
Numbered panels with comprehensive floor plan for straightforward installation
Swing door compliant with build code requirements
The result: a fully sealed, insulated envelope suitable for precise environmental control.
2. engineered environmental control
To achieve the required conditions, Humiscope specified and supplied a matched refrigeration and desiccant dehumidification package:
Mint Refrigeration System for stable 5°C cooling
Air Dry 600 Desiccant Dehumidifier for precise moisture control
The desiccant system ensures reliable humidity control independent of temperature, allowing the room to consistently maintain 30% RH - critical for seed viability and long-term storage.

Installation
The modular design allowed the client to assemble the room using the supplied floor plan and numbered panels, with Humiscope providing guidance and on-going support throughout the process.
The refrigeration system was externally mounted to optimise airflow and preserve internal storage capacity. The Air Dry 600 desiccant dehumidifier was installed within the room to deliver direct, controlled moisture removal and maintain stable 30% RH conditions.
