  • A desiccant dehumidifier works by passing air through a rotating desiccant wheel to extract moisture from the air. As the wheel rotates, a small portion of the rotor is used to reactivate the wheel. In this portion the desiccant is heated so the moisture is released and is then ducted out from the dehumidified space.

    Desiccant Dehumidifiers work unhindered in extremely low temperatures or when low dew point is required. As there is no actual water produced during the process, these units work successfully in sub-zero temperatures.

  • Desiccant dehumidifiers perform exceptionally well when used in cooler temperatures, or when a low dew point is required. As there is no actual water produced during the process, these units can work effectively at sub-zero temperatures. 

    In comparison, refrigerant systems are more economical at higher temperatures i.e. 20° C. They are also particularly useful in the early stage of flood restorations.

  • Desiccant dehumidifiers excel in cold or low-humidity environments where refrigerant models lose efficiency - such as cold rooms, industrial freezers, unheated warehouses, or industrial drying applications.

  • Yes, but maintenance is typically minimal. Periodic filter cleaning or replacement, checking air inlets and outlets for blockages, and scheduled servicing of the rotor and heater system help maintain peak efficiency and longevity.

  • With proper maintenance, high-quality desiccant systems often operate reliably for 15–20+ years, making them a long-term investment in safety, performance, and operational efficiency.
